The movement, which received a complete overhaul in 2022, keeps accurate time with both the day and date wheels rolling over as they should. Although no service paperwork will be provided my watchmaker's service marking is etched on the inside of the case back. This seldom seen vintage 1969/70 Bulova Accutron Snorkel has a multi-colored "T SWISS T" signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows age-related wear. The lume, which emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. Majority of the imperfections seen are on the crystal, not the dial.
The massive all stainless steel case shows honest wear with minor signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "BULOVA" and 1 - 768208.
" The inside of the case back is stamped "STAINLESS STEEL" followed by "SWISS, USE ONLY CELL MARKED, ACCUTRON 218, INSTALL WITH, STEPPED SIDE, UP, CB and M9" and "781. The crystal, which I believe to be original, shows light scratching. The patented Swiss "NO" and "BULOVA 2182" stamped electronically controlled tuning fork movement with semi-quickset day and quickset date keeps accurate time and both the day and date wheels roll over as they should.
The movement received a complete overhaul in 2022. The semi-quickset day function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new day and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 18 and 24 hour marks until the desired day has been reached. The day wheel is in German.
The quickset date function works by turning the bottom crown clockwise when it is flush to the case. The top crown rotates the inner bezel bidirectionally without issue. This watch measures approximately 41 mm excluding the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 9.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness is approximately 12.5 mm. Although the movement works as it should and keeps accurate time there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
