Vintage 1972 Bulova Accutron Quartz All SS Watch withRefreshing Blue Dial, Serviced
The original hacking movement was given a complete overhaul in December 2022. This vintage 1972 Bulova Accutron has a lovely blue dial and the lume on the dial and hands, which no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a warm buttermilk hue.
In my humble opinion the dial, which resembles a refreshing swimming hole given its light blue center with darker outer edges, presents markedly better in person. The all stainless steel case shows minor wear with no visible signs of oxidation.
The outer edge of the case back is stamped "BULOVA STAINLESS STEEL CASE" with "J193509" followed by "N2" stamped along the inner edge. The crystal shows light scratching which is visually imperceptible in person.
While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale the case back is torqued too tight for me to remove. The quartz movement with quickset date function and hacking feature runs strong, receiving a complete overhaul in December 2022. Although no service paperwork will be provided my watchmaker's service marking is etched on the inside of the case back. The quickset date function works flawlessly by turning the signed crown clockwise until the desired desired date has been reached. It also has a semi-quickset date function that works by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 18 and 24 hour marks. When the crown is pulled out the seconds hand stops immediately (hack feature).When it's pushed back in the seconds hand resumes running. This watch measures approximately 34 mm excluding the crown, approximately 36 mm including the crown and approximately 17.5 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 7 mm.
Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 9 mm. This watch comes on a "HONG KONG" and "100% STAINLESS STEEL" stamped wrap around strap that complements the case nicely. Although the movement is currently running strong and working as it should there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.
Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. And please study the 14 high magnification pictures carefully, which were taken in natural light and from various angles, as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
